Micellar water isn’t a new concept in beauty by any means. French women have touted its benefits for decades. The problem has always been that it wasn’t widely available in the United States, which meant that either we traveled to Europe to buy some or just had to do without. Thankfully this gentle cleansing solution has finally made it across the pond. Whether you’re a high-end or drugstore beauty shopper, there are dozens of choices.

So what is micellar water? It’s simply micelles–spheres of oil–that are suspended in water. As simple as it is, these products do an incredibly great job of cleansing the skin without stinging or stripping out moisture. Acne-prone, dry, oily, aging…practically any type of skin can benefit from these gentle cleansers.

Although micellar water cleansers come in all price points, I happen to love the uber-affordable products featured below.

Back-to-school time usually signals fall shopping whether you’re going back to class or not.
