Maggie has managed to bring a bit of individuality to the red carpet over the years and her free-spirited style usually manifests in fashion-forward, slightly quirky ensembles. That wasn't the case on Monday night, though, when the actress attended the 2013 Sundance Institute Theatre Program Benefit in New York City. Maggie's multicolored paisley-printed Samuel semi-sheer dress by
Isabel Marant somehow seemed to overwhelm the star with its billowy shape, balloon sleeves and midi length. A tassel-trimmed leather belt surprisingly did little to rein in the silk-gauze creation. She wrapped up her look with a studded pair of heels.
Although we really want to like this look because we're admirers of the boho trend, we just can't get behind Maggie's rather lax take. We also can't help feeling that if
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley or
Ginnifer Goodwin wore the piece out and about, we would be raving about the result since both stars would have fully committed to this potentially chic look.
