Shown on her home turf, uptown in a ballroom in the Pierre Hotel, Tory Burch's collection was inspired by Gustav Klimt's paintings. Richly textured, the collection included shades of pink, teal, blush, navy, maroon and gold shown alongside ivory and black (Burch also noted that Lalique was an inspiration). Cutouts, embroidery, lace, embellished sleeves and pendant jewelry were bountiful making for a visually exciting lineup of wearable pieces.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS

Plaids, stripes, geometric prints, floral motifs and classic solids fashioned into a voyage-inspired collection (complete with hat-shaped handbags) made for a wearable Marc by Marc Jacobs collection. Done in conservative 70s-style silhouettes, with the exception of some of the outerwear pieces, most looks were tailored on the slim side and done in a rusty color palette of blue, red, orange and aubergine. There were a few hiccups, however, notably in the series of satin looks, some of which looked more like sleepwear than anything one would wear out in public.

No one makes a jersey dress look as effortlessly sexy as Donna Karan and her Fall 2013 lineup was rife with gorgeous ones. Impeccably draped and done in a seasonless neutral palette, the collection included both loosely tailored and tightly fitted looks with satin and fur woven in for touches of opulence. Mixed textures, cape-like details and armor-like embellishments toughened up the luxe collection of sophisticated designs.
