With awards season if full swing, we turned to Jessica Paster, celebrity stylist and chief stylist at JustFab, for her thoughts on the recent Golden Globes, red carpet secrets and Oscar style predictions.
The 70th Annual Golden Globes that took place this past weekend was not only a kick-start to the awards season, but it was also an indication of what's to come for red carpet fashion in this upcoming year. Last year, skin was in -- which is a contrast to this year's Golden Globes which was more about color: lots of blushes, metallics, pastel yellow, vibrant red and teal for some unexpected pops of color.
A personal trend I am embracing at the moment is a more minimalist silhouette; with subtle lace insets, cut-outs, and embellishments. I think for this Oscar season you can expect to see the same hues carried on from the Golden Globes: one-of a kind dresses with structure that is complemented with simple jewelry.
My tip on dressing for the red carpet starts with the "perfect" dress and ends with the perfect complements of accessories and jewelry to complete the look. Here's a secret: one thing my stylist kit cannot live without is Commando, my go-to brand for shapers and helpers. They make you look like you are wearing nothing - you don't see a line. Also, the two most important things that I remind my clients is to have confidence and to be comfortable - all eyes are on you, and if you aren't comfortable, people will be able to tell. Nothing is worse than looking uncomfortable in your own skin!
Until next time....Heading out to another fitting!
Xx, Jess
