Oscars 2012: the best beauty trends

The most glamorous night of the year--the Oscars--has come and gone once more. And now that a few days have gone by, we've culled our favorite trends of the evening. Here are the ones we liked the most.

Red lips
Angelina Jolie and Milla Jovovich both brought the drama with one of the red carpet's bolder trends of the evening, the red lip.

High, voluminous updos
Tina Fey, Jennifer Lopez and Shailene Woodley all proved that bigger is better with buns and chignons that were high, poufy and totally drama-filled.

Glamorous ponytails
Leslie Mann, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sandra Bullock all went for ponytails--but, rather than looking simple or little girlish, they were uber-glamorous and chic.

Dark manicures
While many celebs opted for really pale nails, a few starlets took some chances with their nail color on the red carpet. We love the dark manis worn by Kristen Wiig, Octavia Spencer, Kate Mara and Melissa McCarthy.

Thick, blunt bangs
Who knew girly bangs were making such a comeback? We love the blunt fringes seen on Rose Byrne, Rooney Mara, Anna Faris and Ellie Kemper.

Pink lips
Some celebs opted for a slightly subtler lip color than red, which was just so sweet and feminine on the red carpet. We love the pink lip colors chosen by Natalie Portman, Emma Stone and Michelle Williams.
