It was a busy weekend at the NY Fashion Week Fall 2012 collections at Lincoln Center. Trends are already beginning to emerge including Asian influences, fur trim, black knee boots and metallic accents. Here are a few highlights from the past few days:

ALEXANDER WANG

Forget about the clothes - well, don't forget about them -- but they certainly weren't the star of this season's Alexander Wang show. With impeccable stage direction and a cast of supers that included Karolina Kurkova, Joan Smalls, Natasha Poly, Maria Bradley, Shalom Harlow, and Gisele Bundchen, it's will be near impossible for any designer to top Wang's casting. The collection itself was minimalist and heavy on black with a few lighter moments. Most of the looks were monochrome and pieces were, for the most part, fashioned into stiff, almost robotic looks. Ironically, given the show's cast, most of the models walked the runway with mesh mouth covers, though when the supers took to the runway they ended up taking them off before walking away.

RACHEL ZOE

Zoe's many fans will delight that she didn't stray far from her signature loose fitting boho dresses and fitted separates but unlike many seasoned designers who find themselves inspired by designs of past decades, Zoe's collection felt modern and fresh. Though she opted for faux fur, Zoe is arguably one of the chief influencers responsible for the deluge of fur currently on the runway, and she showed it off notably via fur collared coats, fur-accented jackets, and fur hats. A slinky white dress, bow-tie blouses, menswear-inspired suiting, and over-the-knee boots rounded out the wholly sellable collection.

REBECCA MINKOFF

Rebecca Minkoff is one of those designers that just gets it, and by "it" I mean everything about her customer. Not only does Minkoff know exactly what her target clients - for the most part, 20- to 30-something-year-old on-the-go women - want to wear, she gets how they shop, how they interact, and how they want to feel when they put on a garment. The Fall 2012 collection stayed true to Minkoff's seemingly effortless day-to-night aesthetic though it was a bit less feminine and free-flowing than ones in the past. Heavy on mixed and layered prints, in keeping with her "fearless and unfettered" inspiration this season, the collection included glittering separates, slender trousers in a variety of monochrome colors, snakeskin-inspired detailing, plaid separates, a variety of geometric and abstract printed pieces, and a number of closet staples including cropped jackets, wide collared coats, and monochrome minis.

JASON WU

This season, Jason Wu found himself inspired by Asia. The collection included a mix of military green, smoking hot red, and neutrals, while silhouettes were kept mostly fitted with a slew of stiffly tailored jackets, high-waist pencil skirts, skin grazing cocktails dresses, and cinched waists. Understated, streamlined looks were counterbalanced by elaborate embroidery (most impressively on shoulders) and lush touches of fur.
